What Is Alzheimer

What do you know about Alzheimer's disease? Maybe his name is less familiar in layman's ear, but Alzheimer's disease itself is not new. Disease known as dementia disease, the attack mostly older people.
Incidence of this disease is increasing with age, usually over the age of 60 years, most often at the age of 80 years. What happened? What happens is the generative events (changes in the body of a person under the influence of age) in the brain that results in impaired memory and mental function (including the thought and speech). Even the few that also affect mood changes, disorientation and confusion (the two terms together represent a state "confusion" experienced by the patient).
Approximately 5-10% of patients with Alzheimer's disease occurs in an earlier age (before age 65 years). Usually has a strong influence of genetic factors. This can be traced from the history of this patient prior to the earlier generations in the family.
Until recently, the disease is also suffered by former U.S. president Ronald Reagan was, I have found no cure. This is because researchers have not found the exact cause of Alzheimer's. But there are some known risk factors related to lifestyles that increase the chance of getting the disease later. This can be understood that anything that causes disruption of the circulation to the brain will certainly contribute to the decline of brain function itself.
That said, for example, that a person who continued smoking until over the age of 65 years, has a 79% chance of developing this disease. Obese middle-aged people are 3.5 times more likely to develop Alzheimer's than those who do not. Diabetics also have a chance to double to Alzheimer's than the normal. Psychological stress of chronic disease increase the risk of the disease up to 4 times, was said to be regular exercise can prevent the incidence of Alzheimer's by 40%. Recent research conducted by a team of researchers from the University of Manchester, UK, and even linking the incidence of this disease with a virus that often causes us to get a sore throat (herpes simplex virus type 1).
Although no drug is completely effective cure Alzheimer's disease, and the involvement of transcription factors, does not mean we can not do prevention efforts, as well as efforts to suppress the rate of progression of the disease becomes more severe. Some drugs, herbs and vitamins have been used in order to prevent progression of the disease such as statins (drugs used to lower blood cholesterol levels), juice of fruits and vegetables, Vit E, ginkgo biloba, etc..
A good news from researchers, Picower Institute, MIT, USA, that they have found a gene (HDAC2), which succeeded in restoring the ability of memory in rats. Expected in the future, this will be a hope for a cure for Alzheimer's patients also experience memory loss disorders. Let's wait!
